What it is: An “elegant” men’s cologne from Boss Parfum that offers, “a new dimension of modern masculinity,” according to a news release.
The wearable scent is billed as being one that can seamlessly transition a man through the seasons — from summer to fall, and back again.
The blue-bottled elixir features top notes of grapefruit, bitter orange, lemon and apple; heart notes of ginger, cinnamon, cloves and geranium; and base notes of vetiver and wood.
The citrus-wood blend is billed as being “refreshing” and “sophisticated.”
What we say: The idea that a men’s cologne could be light and refreshing seems foreign to us — and we’re probably not alone.
Too often, men’s scents are weighed down with heady notes that comfortably fall under that categories of spicy, woodsy or rustic.
And that’s exactly what makes Bottled Tonic such an olfactory treat. This cologne has a lightness to it that sets it apart from the rest of the scent set.
Our testers were pleased with the initial scent of first spritz. The top notes of fruit keep the scent fresh, without being sweet. The dry down leaves behind pleasant notes of a heavier sort such as cloves, before finishing with the moodier (and more traditional) base notes of vetiver and woods.
While the scent may prove too lightweight for some fans of colognes who prefer that their signature scent precede their arrival into a room by a full minute, others who have been searching for a scent that seamlessly transitions through the seasons — as well as going from the workday to after-work cocktails — will likely welcome this addition to their collection.
